COSMETIC INJECTABLES
Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport are made from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum toxins block nerve activity in the muscles, causing a temporary reduction in muscle activity used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the facial area caused by muscle movement underneath the skin. It acts as a neuromuscular blockade of the muscles (frontalis, orbicularis and procerus, and corrugators).
Botox and Dysport injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. They're also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), an overactive bladder and can also help prevent chronic migraines and TMJ pain (temporal mandibular joint).
These injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. The effects last about three to twelve months, depending on what you are treating. The most common side effects are pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.
